THE ASSAM FIXATION OF CEILING ON LAND
HOLDINGS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1984.
fu rthe r to amend the Assam Fix atio n of Ceiling on Land Holdings Act, 1956.
Short title , extent and commence- ment.
Amendment of Section 7
Preamble. Whereas it is expedient to amend the Assam Act Assam Fixation of Ceiling on Land Hoi-Iof l957 ' dings Act, 1956 here inafter called the Principal Act in the manner hereinafter appearing;

It is hereby enacted in the Thirty - fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows :—
1. (1) This Act^may be called the Assam Fixation of Ceiling on Land Holdings (Amendment) Act, 1984.
(2) It shall have the like extent as the Principal Act.
(3) It shall come Into force a t once.
2. In the Principal Act, in Section 7, sub-section (6), the following shall Aci'Tof" be substituted, namely :—

"(6) Without prejudice to any action under any other provision of this Act, the State Government may of its own motion, within a period of 3 years or on application if filed within 90 days from the date of for i

under sub-section (4) or from the
date on which the Assam Fixa tion
of Ceil ing on Land Holdings
(Amendment) Act, 1984 shall
come into force, whicheve r is
later , call for any record relating to any final statement and may
pass such orders as it deems fit

insertion of 3. in Section 7, afte r sub-section (6), subsection following shall be inserted as sub- section 6(a), n am el y:—
"Without prejudice to any action under any other provisions of this

Ac t, the State Governm ent of its own motion, for ends of just ice and/or for exce ptio nal circum- stances to be recorded in writ ing, for rev iew of any orders including orders once passed by it, may call for any records rela ting to any final statement at any t ime and m ay pass such orders as it deems fit, afte r giv ing the person or persons con- cerned an opportu nity of being heard" .
