1987, here- ^ X X o Whereas it is expedient further to Guwahati Development Authority Act, inafter referred to as the principal Act. It is hereby enacted in the Forty-sixth Year of the Republic of Icdla as fellows, namely—

Short title Extent and Commence- ment.

1.(1) This Act may be called the Guwahati Developmeat Authority (Amendment) Act, 1995.

12) I t shall have the like extent as the principal Act.

(3) It shall come into force at once.

Amendment of Sec- tion 5,

2. In the principal Act, in Section 5, in sub-section (1)—

(i) in clause (b), of Town end _ Minister-ii.-charge of Municipal Administration De- partment'' occuring at the beginning the words "The Minister in-cbarge o ' Guwahati Development Depart- ment" shall be substituted ;

for the words "The Minister-In-charge Country Planning Oepartnent and the

in clause (c), in the proviso thereto, for the words

" Municipal Administration Department" occuring in between the words " to the" and "of the State" , the words " Guwahati Development Department" shall be substituted.

dii) for the clauses (d) to (u), respectively the following shall be substituted ; namely—

"(d) Mayor or Deputy Mayor to be nominated by the Mayor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation.

(c) Commissioner/Secretary to the Government of Assam» Guwahati Development Department (.Ex-Officio).

(f) Commis&iorer/Secretary to the Gov?, t f Assam, Planning and Development Department (Ex-Officio).

g) Commission; r/Secretary to the Govt, of Assam, Finance Department (Ex-Officio).

h) Chief Executive Officer, GMDA, to be appointed by the State Government (Ex-Officio),

(i) Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup District (Ex-Officio).

(j) Commissioner, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (Ex-Officio).

(k) General Manager N. F Railway.

(l) Chief Engineer of the Authority, not below the rank of Addl. Chief Engineer of the State PWD, to be appointed by the State Government.

(tn) Town Planner of the Authority, not below the rank of Asso- ciate Planner of the State Govt, to be appointed by the State Government

(n) Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer of the Authority not below the rank of Financial Advhei of the State Govt, to be appointed by the State Govt.

(o) Chief Engineer, PWD (Roads), Govt, of Assam.

(p) Chief Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department, Govt, of Assam.

(q) Chief Engineer, Flood Control Department, Govt, of Assam.

(r) Managing Director, Assam Urban Water Supply and Sewa)age Board.

(s) Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Govt, of Assam.

(t) Director, Town and Countiy Planning Department, Govt. of Assam.

(u) Member-Secretary, State Pollution Control Board, Assam.

(v) Chairman, North Guwahati Town Committee or Executive Officer in Charge of the Town Committee.

(w) One member from Commerce or Industry to be nominated by the State Govt.

(x) One member from Non-Government Organisation engaged in Welfare activities of the city to be nominated by the State Go»t.

(y) One environmental activist to be nominated by the State Govt. "
