Uttaranchal (The Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973) (Adaptation and Modification Order, 2001) (Amendment) Act, 2003*

An Act to further Amend in the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973 (Adaptation & Modification Order, 2001) in the context of Uttaranchal State.
Be it enacted in the Fifty-fourth year of the Republic of India as follows:-
* As passed by the Uttaranchal Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor on June 28, 2003.
1. Short title, Commencement & Extent.- (1) This Act may be called the Uttaranchal (The Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973) (Adaptation and Modification Order, 2001) (Amendment) Act, 2003.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may decide by notification in the Gazette.
(3) It extends to the whole of the State of Uttaranchal.
2. Repeal of the Section 31(4)(c) & (d) of Principal Act.- Section 31(4)(c) & (d) of the Principal Act shall be hereby deemed to have been repealed.
3. Insertion of clause (e) after sub-section (4) of section 31 of the Principal Act.- A new clause (e) shall be inserted after sub-section (4) of section 31 of the Principal Act, as follows:-
"The selection committee for the appointment of Principal and Lecturers in aided degree colleges shall consist of-
| (a) Vice-Chancellor (Concerned V.C. for Concerned University Area) | Chairman |
| (b) Two subject experts (Nominated by V.C. not below the rank of Professor/Principal of post graduate college, one of them shall the from reserved category) | Member |
| (c) Chairman of Management Committee or member nominated by him | Member |
| (d) Director Higher Education | Member-Secretary |
The process of selection for the post of Principal and Lecturer shall begin at least six months before the vacancy arises and it shall be imperative on the management of the college concerned to given appointment to the duly selected Principal & Lecturer"
4. Repeal of the Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Service Commission Act, 1980 (Act No. 16 of 1980).- (1) The Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Service Commission Act, 1980 shall be hereby deemed to have been repealed in the context of Uttaranchal State.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the Act referred to in sub-section (1) shall be deemed to have or taken under this Act.
