An Act further to amend the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994
Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Forty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
* Received the assent of the Governor on the 25th June, 1996 and published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Extraordinary.
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 1996.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment to section 261.- In section 261 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), in sub-section (2), for the expression "upto the 30th day of June, 1996 and no longer", the expression "upto the 31st day of December, 1996 or for such shorter period as the Government may, by notification, specify in this;behalf" shall be substituted.
