*Orissa Ancient Monuments Preservation (Amendment) Act, 2002**

An Act to Amend the Orissa Ancient Monuments Preservation Act, 1956.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Orissa in the Fifty-third Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

1. Short title.- This Act may be called the Orissa Ancient Monuments preservation (Amendment) Act, 2002.
2. Amendment of section 16.- In section 16 of the Orissa Ancient Monuments preservation Act, 1956 (Orissa Act 12 of 1956) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), for the words "fine which may extend to five thousand rupees, or with imprisonment which may extend to three months or with both", the words "imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, or with fine which may extend to fifty thousand rupees, cr with both" shall be substituted.
3. Amendment of section 17.- In section 17 of the principal Act, in sub-section (4), for the words "five hundred rupees", the words "ten thousand rupees" shall be subsisted.
