Gujarat Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 2001*

An Act further to amended the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993.
It is hereby enacted in the Fifty-second Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
* (Received the assent of the Governor on 30th March, 2001 and published in the "Gujarat Government Gazette" on the 30th March, 2001)
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Gujarat Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 2001
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 4th November, 2000.
2. Amendment of section 257 of Guj. 18 of 1993.- In the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993 (Guj. 18 of 193) (hereinafter referred to as the "principal Act"), in section 257, sub-section (2) shall be deleted.
3. Repeal and savings.- (1) The Gujarat Panchayats (Amendment) Ordinance, 2000 (Guj. Ord. 4 of 200) is hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act, as amended by the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the principal Act, as amended by this Act.
