An Act further to amend the Andhra Pradesh Rural electric Co-operative Societies (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1998
Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Andhra Pradesh in the Fifty-second Year of the Republic of India, as follows:-
1 The following Act of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly received the assent of the Governor on the 13th August, 2001 and the said assent is hereby first published on the 17th August, 2001 in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette for general in formation:-
STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS
The restructuring of the power sector has been taken up by the Government and the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Reform Act, 1998 (Andhra Pradesh Act 30 of 1998) has been enacted and brought into force. The Electricity Reforms are still in initial stages.
The reform of the power sector will take some more time and therefore it will be desirable to conduct elections to the Rural Electric Co-operative Societies only after the inclination of such reforms.
Accordingly, Government have, decided to further extend the period of appointment of Persons-in-charge to the Rural Electric Co-operative Societies upto 31st March, 2002 by amending the Andhra Pradesh Rural Electric Co-operative Societies (Temporary provisions) Act, 1998 suitably.
This bill seeks to give effect to the above decision.
1. Short title extent and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Andhra Pradesh Rural Electric Co-operative Societies (Temporary provisions) (Amendment) Act, 2001.
(2) It shall be deemed to have corns into force with effect from the 1st November, 1976.
2. Amendment of Section 2.- In the Andhra Pradesh Rural Electric Co-operative societies (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1998, in section 2, for the words "beyond the 31st March; 2001", the words "beyond the 31st March, 2002", shell be substituted.
